APPOINTMENT" Madison County General Assistance provides "support of the
poor" that includes assistance with rent, utilities, and food. The definition of
"poor person" used to determine eligibility for General Assistance is from Iowa
Code, Chapter 252: "...those who have no property, exempt or otherwise, and are
unable, because of physical or mental disabilities, to earn a living by labor."
*To apply for assistance in Madison County, the applicant must reside
in Madison County General Assistance refers to all the forms of
assistance Madison County has traditionally provided, and this includes the
